Georgetown is nestled in between some of the most majestic peaks in Colorado just 45 miles west of Denver. The town stretches roughly north to south along Clear Creek, hemmed in by the mountains. The historic downtown is located at the southern end of town and the modern development is located at the northern end of town.

• Georgetown is also mildly famous.
• The historic downtown was used as the location for the filming of a scene from the 1978 movie Every Which Way But Loose starring Clint Eastwood.
