Bailey is nestled in the foothills of the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, approximately 30 miles southwest of Denver. Situated along a scenic curve in the South Platte River, rustic Bailey has beautiful alpine scenery and is one of the largest communities in the Platte Canyon region. Its mountain backdrop lends particular charm to this sleepy mountain town.

• The Platte Canyon School district serves the area’s elementary, middle and high school students.

Local Attractions

• At an altitude of 7,750 feet, Bailey is an excellent area for hunting and fishing.
• A herd of about 200 bighorn sheep live in the mountains around Bailey offering excellent opportunities for watching wildlife.
• Within Park County borders are two state parks, two national wilderness areas, nine state wildlife areas, and federally owned lands which provide outstanding opportunities for recreational activities.
• Of note are Pike National Forest, Lost Park, Jefferson Lake, Bristlecone Pine National Scenic Area, Eleven-Mile Canyon, Wilkerson Pass Visitor Center, and the Colorado Trail.
• The town community consists of several small businesses, restaurants and the famous Coney Island Hot Dog Stand, a landmark building shaped like a giant hotdog and weaving it all together is an appreciation of natures deep down freshness and down home hospitality.
